surely i can't be the only person who swears they pay their magazine subscription bills about 3 times a year. it's gotten to the point where i actually have been paying for two year subscriptions when i pay them, with the hope that i will not have to think about renewing for a very long time (although, the older i get, the less i'm convinced two years is a very long time). i don't subscribe to many magazines - actually, only three at this point. dwell (to appease my inner archi-dork), print (because it's usually beautiful and inspiring) and readymade (because, well, i'm not even sure anymore, it might just be to mock it at this point. it's probably of the least interest to me of the three lately, i usually laugh at loud at their articles these days).
i've tried writing my subscriptions - the date i paid and for how long - down in my handy little transaction book (i have found that the only way i can keep track of my finances is to not only check them too often online and through mint, but also to handwrite everything i spend that's not cash in a gridded moleskin. it's a comforting process that has curbed my financial assholedness big time) and i've kept copies of the statements after i write a big "YOU PAID THIS" on them in a file drawer. but i still get notices and things from all these publications, saying "this is your last issue!" or "we miss you!" way more often than i think i should. and so, i scratch my head and pay them, again, because, well, i wouldn't want my coffee table to be naked even for a month, right? so silly.
the sweet six hundred sale is going well - only three more superfunnesses (as in, $1 shipping + a bonus printed trivet) left!
